Terms of Service

Scope

These terms apply to work by Alterra Labs LLC. If a signed quote or agreement conflicts with these terms, the signed quote or agreement takes precedence.

Services

We provide schematic capture, component selection and BOM, 2-layer PCB layout, fabrication packages and written DFM/DRC design reviews. We deliver in KiCad. We work remotely. The scope of each project is set out in the written quote.

Payment

Fees are in US dollars. Projects quoted at US$150 or more require a deposit of 25% of the quoted price before work starts, unless the quote states otherwise. We invoice the balance when the agreed work is complete; payment is due by the date on the invoice. Before invoicing, we provide review copies for checking against the agreed scope. We release final deliverables only after full payment.

Intellectual property

Design rights transfer to the client on final payment. We may reuse generic circuit blocks. We may describe the work in our portfolio without confidential details.

Confidentiality

We sign an NDA before receiving design files.

Client responsibilities

The client is responsible for:

• the requirements given to us;
• firmware;
• certification;
• the decision to manufacture.

No warranty on manufacturing

We give no warranty on manufacturing yield, fabricator workmanship or component availability.

Limit of liability

Our liability for a project is capped at the fees paid for that project. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

Governing law

Massachusetts law governs these terms, unless a signed agreement says otherwise.
